Posted by carspace
Talk about being in the hot seat! A member reports having his 2004 Honda Pilot car seat go up in flames after warming the car for a few minutes on a cold Chicago morning. The car was filled with smoke and a flame was visible. The driver managed to extinguish the fire and now has a two inch hole in the driver's seat along with a horrible smell. Are oil changes every 3,000 miles really needed?
Posted by carspace
A new state campaign in California is urging motorists to ignore the old instructions of changing your oil every 3,000 miles. The California Integrated Waste Management Board, assigned to reduce waste and keep used oil out of landfills, water bodies and groundwater, launched the campaign after research found that 73 percent of Californians change their oil more frequently than recommended by the manufacturers of their vehicles - most of them at 3,000 miles. The campaign, using www.3000milemyth.org as a primary listening post states that most vehicles can go 5,000, 7,000 or even 10,000 miles without an oil change depending on driving habits and conditions. If you live in California, expect radio ads to bombard you on the topic. What's at stake?.. Read More
Super Bowl Recap of the Game, er, Car Commercials
Posted by carspace
Well, surprise, surprise! The game was not a snoozer at all. CarSpace fans who were instant messaging during the game were surprised that the Giants held the Pats to 4 points for most of it and in the final minutes took what Patriot fans had declared theirs going into the game. But what about the commercials?!?!?! In canvasing the community and neighborhood parties, the Planter's Cashew commercial was indeed among the funniest... Read More

"You Meet the Nicest People on a Honda." Many of you may be too young to remember this, but that slogan and the 50cc Honda Cub, together, put Honda on the map here in the USA. The Cub dates back to 1958, and was sold here beginning in the early 1960s if memory serves me correctly... more

After an exhilerating day of driving the 2009 Maserati GranTurismo S in Modena, Italy (home of Pavarotti, Parmigiano and Balsamic vinegar), I was approached by one of the key technicians for the vehicle.  Besides  being handsome and Italian, he was very interested in a woman's POV. I told him what I liked about this beautiful machine.1... more

Nissan recently introduced an "intelligent" cruise control system that goes beyond the radar based intelligent cruise control devices that are available from a handful of manufacturers. By integrating the vehicle's GPS navigation unit with the cruise control, the vehicle can now anticipate upcoming curves and turns and will alert the driver to potentially unsafe speeds... more
