Jul 27, 2009 - OEM TIRES NOT UP TO THE CHALLENGE

Barely got 30K out of the duelers.  Sending my wife's truck in for a set of Eagle LS-2's.  Lets see how these hold up.

Feb 12, 2008 - ESC: IT REALLY WORKS!

*** NO AMOUNT OF ELECTRONICS CAN REPLACE GOOD DRIVING SENSE! ***

With that said: Its snowing in Philly and most of the north east. For most of the early afternoon it was just a dusting but it began to stick later in the day and ice over in places I did not expect. Travel was slow going down the NJ Turnpike south to Staten Island.

While waiting in line to cross the Outer Bridge this afternoon I got a little heavy on the gas during a tricky turn off the expressway. What I did not see was a thin sheet of ice had formed. My Santa Fe began sliding to the right but before I could do anything about it the ESC kicked in and kept me in control and completed the turn without any trouble. Under these conditions, I had no business taking that turn at 40mph. Its nice to know that someone ( or in this case something ) had more sense than I did and took over.

Many new crossovers have this technology. The difference is in the software. Some enable too soon and unfortunately some kick in late. IMO Hyundai has nailed it with respect to the Santa Fe's.

Feb 11, 2008 - LETS BEGIN...

I just created this so my first entry will be short. The purpose of this blog is to share with you my day to day ups and downs owning two 2007 Santa Fe AWD 3.3 Limiteds.

The down side: I have two car payments. The up side: My Santa Fe is a 1st generation and my wife's Santa Fe is a second generation. I will be providing insight into the ownership and care of both.

I have been questioned in the past as to why I consider my Santa Fe a 1st generation and my wifes a 2nd generation. Production dates aside, my map lights do not work, hers work fine. I have issues with the front axles, she does not. I do not have XM, she does. A can go on and on. Also, some of you may have noticed when viewing the Hyundai website you would see two listings for each model and one had discontinued next to it ( my generation ).

I will provide you with a detailed record of all service and care. My goal is to inform, educate, entertain and rant. So if you have not fallen asleep by now check back soon for the first installment of the 30K MILE ROAD TEST...
