Aiming High
As reported in Green Car Advisor, Honda has hinted at a hybrid sports car, and said it will show a nearly production-ready model of its FCX fuel-cell electric car concept at the Los Angeles auto show next month.
Currently Honda sells fewer than 100,000 hybrid vehicles per year, but expects that number to increase to over 450,000 due to the hybrid sports model and a new 5-seat gas-electric hybrid due in 2009.
Honda has said it expects to sell at least 200,000 units globally of the new, as yet unnamed five-seat hybrid, with the Civic hybrid and the new sports car model contributing the rest.
Those are some mighty ambitious targets. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
