Alternate Route

Turn off the nav system, crumple up that MapQuest printout, and let's find out where the next random turn may take us!

Sep 20, 2008 - Ask Dub Schwartz!

Dear Dub,
Is there any way to turn of that chime that goes off if I'm not wearing my seatbelt? Most of the driving I do is just short, local trips and it really drives me crazy!
Live Free or Die

Yea, aren't all those safety warnings and labels annoying?

Close cover before striking

Don't use this step

Don't remove this tag

Keep right except to pass

Since all the cars made now are loaded with this stuff and you want that free and easy feeling when driving, why not give up your car and switch to a motorcycle?

You can ride without a helmet in a lot of places. Ah yes, that wonderful feeling of having nothing between you and the scenery rolling by!

I found the buzzer on an Olds 88 after I just bought it and disconnected it. It was instantly a much better car.

I have been told that you can get a "male plug" that is normally attached to your seatbelt. ie, wrecking yard, and plug that into the "female plug" it will complete the circuit, and stop the chime. I advise you not to do this while driving, if you get caught by the police they may frown on it...
