Oct 24, 2008 - Everybody's A Winner

Ford Motor Co. builds the most reliable American-brand cars and trucks. So said Consumer Reports, in its respected Annual Car Reliability Survey.

The top ten most reliable models are all from Asian carmakers and the top five all belong to Toyota and Honda.

So this is sort of like kiddie soccer where everyone gets a trophy for something? Or maybe it's like the Seinfeld bit on getting the silver medal at the Olympics... of all the losers, you were first.

The report also said that "a quarter of GM models are still well below average in reliability." That included the Cadillac CTS, Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook. And almost two-thirds of Chrysler's products rate below average for reliability. Tell me again why GM is interested in merging with Chrysler?

I thought GM was becoming more reliable through the 90s. Like the Buick Lesabra and big models.
