Alternate Route

Turn off the nav system, crumple up that MapQuest printout, and let's find out where the next random turn may take us!

Sep 28, 2008 - In The Viewfinder

It annoys the heck out of my kids, but I have terminal shutterbug disease and carry my digital SLR pretty much everywhere I go, just in case.

So when I was visiting my buddies at Tire Town and one of them asked if I had my camera because he just heard on the scanner that there was a problem at the shopping center next door I was ready.

I even beat the fire department to the scene and got about 100 shots as they extinguished what used to be a Dodge Stratus. I must have looked like a real "photojournalist" because nobody asked me to move back as I maneuvered around try to get good shots.

In any event, I think I'll occasionally use this space to feature interesting or unusual car photos. Move over Peter Parker!

If you want to see a larger version of this shot, you can find it in my album at National Geographic

Wow, that was quick thinking. I like the action. Maybe you could sell it if its news worthy to the local paper(next time).

Now take a pic of your driver's license and Photoshop "Press" on it, laminate the print and hang it on a lanyard around your neck. You blog, therefore you are press eh?

You've got some really nice shots there on the National Geographic site Bob. Two questions: What kind of camera do you use? And how did you get hooked up with National Geographic?
