Mar 5, 2009 - Pleasant Surprise

Before a new day dawns you have to have a few glimmers on the horizon. That's why it was nice to see this Forbes.com story today...

Kia Motors America said Tuesday its February U.S. sales edged up slightly on strong demand for its Sorento and Sedona models.

Kia sold a total of 22,073 vehicles in February, up 0.4 percent from 21,988 in the same month last year.

Demand for the Sorento sport utility vehicle and Sedona (otcbb: SDNA.OB - news - people ) minivan both more than doubled, selling 3,598 and 6,211 units, respectively.

The increases offset a 46 percent decrease in Spectra sales to 2,772 and 63 percent drop in Rondo sales to 1,339 units.

For the first two months of 2009, Kia sold a total of 44,169 vehicles, up 1.9 percent from 43,343 in the same period last year.

Up for 2009 so far. We'll take it!

Kia is on fire, well maybe that's an overstatement. Some local Detroit dealers have had some great incentives to attract buyers, such as buy one car get one free. Quality is getting better and their pricing can't be beat.
