As easy as making it move... rightWhat scares me the most nowadays is the seeming lack of depth of thought out there. No consideration is given to consequences or reality, just decide that whatever it is is a great idea, or just do this simple thing and all will be well.

Reducing CO2 emmisions is a hot topic now and a motoring organization in Great Britain thinks they have a way to reduce them.

All you have to do is change the traffic lights so traffic moves faster. It's so simple.

They even have a catchy way to illustrate how their solution would benefit.

The AA believes that 1,000 cars held up for 10 seconds every working day while heading to and from work produce enough extra carbon dioxide to fill three and a half squash courts.

How illustrative. And they believe that. No "studies show" for the AA. Just flip a couple of switches, adjust some timings and all will be well.

Right. And grain prices and the cost of foods won't be affected by growing more corn to turn into ethanol. It's all so simple.

Coordinating road work and tinkering with the traffic lights to shorten wait times sounds like a good idea to me. Even though the first roundabout was built in the US, the Brits perfected them, and rolling stops are common there too. I think both techniques are gas savers. If you do a California stop in the US, you're likely to get a ticket. Rolling stops are legal here in Idaho - for bicyclists.
