Sep 19, 2008 - What's The Rush?

Now that all the other problems in the world have been solved, Congress is turning its attention to whether $25 billion (a more sobering way to read that is 25,000 million dollars) should be given to the automakers to bail them... oops... I mean to invest in the auto industry.

Sorry Detroit. You're private companies that did what you did to yourselves and you'll either work your way out of it or you won't. It's not like we don't have options if we can't buy cars from you.

Besides, we have an election to cope with over the next few weeks. Oh wait, I bet I know what the rush is.

Another case of people living beyond their means. When I had a good side business I would buy a slightly new car with cash. Nowadays I couldnt do that so I own older cars. I probaly could borrow some money and get new again, but now I have more money for other important things.

Wow thats cold! It's not just Detroit that will suffer. It would be huge if any one or even worse all these companies fail and close their doors. Sure you can buy your cars somewhere else, we've all been doing that for years. But how are all those unemployed autoworkers going to pay their mortgages? The banks are being bailed out because of their greed when the housing market was so solid. The banks would be hit hard again, all retail will be affected and so on. It would be huge! I think it's arrogant to sit back and say , sorry Detroit, and you may be surprised how it may affect your world also, hope it never goes there.
