Ford is showing a crash-tested Taurus at the NY Auto ShowThe scene of an accident will always get traffic to slow down as the rubberneckers try to get a good look at what happened.

Ford seems to be taking advantage of that tendency as they have put a crash-tested Ford Taurus on display at the NY Auto Show to draw attention to the 5-star safety rating of the Taurus.

So if you go to the show, you can sit in the car , watch a video of the 35 mph crash test, and get a feel for how safe the car is.

Pretty clever on Ford's part. A wrecked car would really stand out at the show. If it goes over really well might other manufacturers jump on the bandwagon? Imagine your surprise walking into an auto show where safety was being showcased when the exhibition hall looked like a salvage yard!

Jan 30, 2008 - Through The Looking Glass

Have you driven a Ford lately?Honesty is the best policy, at least that's what the old saying tells us.

But it's always surprising when you hear some folks come out and say things that seem brutally honest.

Such was the case when Ford CEO Alan Mulally and Derrick Kuzak, head of global product development, took shots at the current Taurus.

"The new Taurus that you're going to see in the next year or so is the one we should have made originally," Mulally said while addressing a seminar. "It is just fabulous."

Kuzak went a bit farther when he invoked the image of Homer Simpson, referring to the Ford 500/Taurus as a "Homer Simpson design".

Will all this reality and honesty turn things around at Ford?  At least they don't seem to be listening to Homer when he said, "I want to share something with you: The three little sentences that will get you through life. Number 1: Cover for me. Number 2: Oh, good idea, Boss! Number 3: It was like that when I got here. "
