For decades, we’ve come to expect recalls from America’s “Big 3” car manufacturers. Whether it was the Ford Pinto or Chevrolet Citation or Dodge Omni, they were big deals at the time but they didn’t lead to any major revamp of how the companies operated. That’s not to say that quality didn’t improve following each major recall, but more to the point that it was all part of doing business…make adjustments and move on...

And now for something from the "I just can't believe some people's luck" department. I stopped in to visit my buddies at Tire Town this morning and they were in the process of replacing the realtively good tires on a 1998 Toyota Tacoma with some very used tires. The reason?..

Talk about being in the hot seat! A member reports having his 2004 Honda Pilot car seat go up in flames after warming the car for a few minutes on a cold Chicago morning. The car was filled with smoke and a flame was visible...

Unless we ever find ourselves at the point where one manufacturer has somehow managed to wipe out all the competition and we all buy our vehicles from the same place, we'll always have fans of the various makes and models trying to explain why their choice is the best choice out there. One quick look at the various comparison discussions on the CarSpace forums will make that obvious. I'd bet that even if there was only one manufacturer with one model to choose from that we'd have postings like this: Well mine was made on a Tuesday and is blue, and you know that your Wednesday reds have had far more problems than mine...
