Dear Dub, Don't you think we should just stop importing oil now that we have ethanol? Isn't it great that we found something to replace oil that's good for the environment? Joe Green Time to put down the KoolAid Joe...

The bloom is off the rose. Maybe, just maybe, this rush to the panacea of ethanol should have been thought about a bit more before we decided to turn our food supply into fuel. "Our enthusiasm for corn ethanol deserves a second look...

There always have been and always will be bandwagons that people jump on and off of. Bell bottom pants, and reality TV come to mind. For a while now, people have been jumping on the ethanol bandwaogn with gusto, ignoring that there might actually be some negative consequences to turning food supplies into fuel...

What scares me the most nowadays is the seeming lack of depth of thought out there. No consideration is given to consequences or reality, just decide that whatever it is is a great idea, or just do this simple thing and all will be well. Reducing CO2 emmisions is a hot topic now and a motoring organization in Great Britain thinks they have a way to reduce them...

The rush to ethanol really reeks of snake oil to me and "Gusher of Lies" by Robert Bryce seems to be on the same page. True believers are likely to label him a heretic, but the truth hurts sometimes...
A little tidbit I found... I always hear the naysayers talk about the negative energy balance and the amount of fossil fuel used to produce corn based ethanol, yada yada yada. They seem to be behind in their crtique as usual...

Step right up and see the next solution to all our energy needs. Ethanol made out of wood chips, household garbage, grass, and old tires from something called a bioreactor from the labs at Coskata, a startup based in Warrenville, IL. Maybe this turns out to be a big deal, but I'm not holding my breath...
