Stupid Case No. 06.16.09

I shouldn't be surprised. After all, I did point out yesterday that stupid is forever, and it happens all around us every day. But I've never had this happen before...

Stupid Is Forever

It's bad when bad things happen, but it's starting to bug me when people think that everything bad can be prevented or eliminated. We're never going to get rid of stupid. Case in point, apparently they're having a problem in Texas with people driving the wrong way on the North Dallas Tollway...

Nitrogen Long Term Test

Back in September 2007 I did a blog entry titled, Nitrogen: A Noble Gas? and it's time for a little follow up on how things are going. If you take care of your tires, if your rotate them religiously, keep an eye out that you're running at the proper pressure in your tires, etc., then you're not really going to notice any changes running nitrogen in your tires...

Settling Down

AR Index     518.47  +1.42  (+0.27%) Stocks of individual interest Toyota  74.59  -1.02 GM        1.15    +0.45 Ford      5.69    -0.06 Dow 8331.68  +6.81   (+0.08%) The chart for the last three months looks fairly calm and steady. That's quite a switch from a year ago when gas prices had peaked in my area at $4.09/gallon (currently at $2.55 and falling) and crude oil was at $139/bbl (now at $59 and also dropping) I saw that diesel fuel in California is less than half of it was in mid-July of 2008 and that has to please the trucking industry. We still have a disconnect between the realities of supply and demand and prices at the pump, but the commodity market wasn't able to drive prices as high this year for some reason...

Nissan wanted to advertise its new Nissan Cube car, and so it created an iPhone game that lets users customize the car. I'm not sure if it will help sell cars, or is the wave of the future, but it sure puts the Cube in front of people who always seem to have their iphones glued to their ears or noses buried in some app. Read more about it at GamesBeat
2009 Civic Si Sedan Purchase Agreement Ben will not buy another car until July of 2014.  The only exception can purely be need based, for example, loss of job. Ben has written this agreement for the sake of himself and his family. My wife and I both signed this contract today...

Ask Dub Schwartz!

Dear Dub, I THOUGHT I bought my dream car a year ago, low miles, great shape, black with heavily tinted windows. I took off all the badges, bought some sharp wheels and put on low profile tires and some mods and started cruising. But right away, my mileage dropped like a stone and it's costing me a fortune at the pump...

Hold The Cigars

Today is the day GM is going to emerge from bankruptcy and I expect there will be a lot of crowing from certain quarters about what a wonderful thing has been done to save an American company. I wouldn't be handing out cigars just yet. Given the government's reputation for efficiently running things and considering that the bailout money we threw at GM that was supposed to keep them out of bankruptcy seems to have been thrown down a hole and buried, any instant claim of success has to taken in with more than a grain of salt...

Cipherin'

So I'm reading a story about how GM is getting ready to emerge from bankruptcy and that the "new" GM will come out of the chute with $48 billion in debts. Now I know this is going to take some high level mathematics and some cipherin' that would test Jethro Bodine's limits, but flash back to yesterday's blog entry and Ford's situation. The article in the NY times said: Ford, meantime, has some $26 billion of debt...
