With all the government money being thrown around recently for bailouts, proponents of the bailout of the automakers are feeling pretty chipper. Critics contend the loans amount to just another government bailout -- a term automakers and their allies have been loudly fighting, even as Wall Street's recent troubles raise the prospect of more industries calling on Congress for aid. "If you look in the paper the last few days, you see 'bailout, bailout, bailout.' This is not a bailout," said Rep...

So I'm scanning the automotive headlines, looking for something interesting, and I see: Ford gets boost from Batman For a second I thought it was about some kind of actual sales bump because of Ford cars being in the movie. But it was more about how cars get placed in movies. "The Joker's henchmen drive black Ford Expeditions in the opening scene of the movie," said Brian Daly, Ford's man in Beverly Hills who works to "cast" Ford vehicles in movies and television...

There's no doubt that the price of oil has been a huge factor, both at the pump and on dealer's lots. Oil had leveled off a bit the last couple of weeks, but is down again this morning even in the face of hurricane Gustav. So I'm standing by my thought that the AR index is at the end of an inverse head and shoulders pattern and about to reverse course...

Beijing certainly wanted to put their best foot forward for the recently completed Olympics. One of the problems they wanted to alleviate for the games was the poor air quality in Beijing. Beijing's 3.3 million cars have been an important factor in making the city one of the world's most polluted...
