Taurus update and Trade Show happenings
Feb 17, 2008 6:44 am | Categories: ethanol, conversion kitPosted by sirlena
So, a lot has happened since the install on the Taurus. I don't have exact numbers yet (fuel trims), but my business partner LOVES using E85. She found herself driving 85 mph the other day, without notice...
Common sense may be dead, but I'm sure glad the law of unintended consequences is still around to hopefully make people think before they act.
According to a new study by the University of Minnesota and the Nature Conservancy, the rush to convert forests and farms once from food crops to biofuel feedstocks is raising rather than reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases.
So maybe, just maybe, we ought to slow down from reacting to all the gloom and doom predictions of global warming and take some time to think and study before we act...

We converted a 1998 Taurus to Flex Fuel in my Engine Perfomance III class. The video begins when we already attached the Fuel Flex International harness to the rear 3 injector connectors. Because this is a V6 we had to remove the upper intake plenum to gain access to the injectors...

Engine Performance III went really well last night. My business partner showed up a little late (bout an hour), but that allowed my students and I to review some key items I wanted to cover before she got there. We researched the fuel system specs for the 98 Taurus and I also reviewed the fuel system troubleshooting logic in the shop manual...

So, I am getting closer to converting the 1998 Taurus my business partner drives. I've had the kit since before Christmas, but logistics was an issue. It's too cold to do outside, so we'll do it in class tonight...
This Corvette C6.R will compete using E85, an ethanol-based fuel, during the 2008 American Le Mans Series. The Series' "Green Racing" initiatives for the 2008 season were announced earlier this month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Converting to E85
Feb 1, 2008 11:48 am | Categories: e85, ethanol, harley, fat boy, motorcyclePosted by sirlena
So, I can't wait to actually get my first E85 conversion done. It's just too cold to do outside here in Michigan and the vehicle I want to convert has not been available until now. So, hopefully next Thursday I will have a video of me converting a 1998 Taurus to burn E85...
So, I decided to start reading the various Forums online to see what people are saying about E85 and flex fuel.
And all I can say is...Wow!
There are a lot of myths out there and closed minded people...

Sure it's a hybrid, but it's an Escalade. How green is it really?
I have a healthy skepticism about the rush to be greener than the next guy...
