Chrysler was gracious enough to allow me to drive away from their proving grounds Thursday in a 2008 Dodge Dakota. Not the hottest selection, but it was one of the few that didn't wear manufacturer plates, a necessity since I'd be crossing the border into my home and native land for the weekend. A terential thunderstorm, 442 kilometres and a whole lot of jiggling later, I arrived in Toronto, or more specifically Mississauga, Ontario...
Hello from Toronto. Yesterday, I was in Michigan for Chrysler's annual Drive All Our New Cars event held at their proving grounds in Chelsea, Mich. Along with more than 80 other car media people, we got to drive just about every 2009 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep on the proving grounds handling circuit and highway surface track. Look for a video of the latter next week...

2009 Nissan Maxima: A Diamond in the Rough

Handsome guy behind the wheel, no? Last month on Inside Line, I doubted how many people would pony up for a $37,000 Nissan Maxima. I stated they should have sold it as a new Infiniti I35, so that it would have a premium badge on a truly premium car...

2008 Mazdaspeed 3: Don't Press the POS Button

While sitting in the Mazda Mazdaspeed3 presented by Mazda yesterday, I couldn't help but notice the button so elegantly pointed to in the picture left. This would be the POS button, and in the words of Q, "whatever you do, don't touch it." But in the service of my readership, I did press the POS button and the results can be seen here and it's truly horrific, as this sizzling hot hatch is magically transformed into a steaming P.O.S. Not sure why Mazda would put it in the car. So again, whatever you do, don't touch it...
Behold, the one frontal angle that actually makes the 2009 Honda Pilot look half-decent. It still looks like an unnatural marriage of a Pathfinder and a Pokemon, though. Looks are subjective, however; especially when the Pilot is considered, given that in its twilight fifth year, the old Pilot (that was certainly no looker itself) sold 117,000 units -- good for ninth place and it used to be higher...
My distaste for the 2009 Acura TSX has been documented, as has the general distaste by everyone within these Edmunds walls. While the horrible electro-steering was enough to incur wrath, its goofy milk-mustache grille and overdone body bulges felt like a slap in the face to the old car. I'm not sure who at Acura thought that farming out their front end styling to Saturn was a good idea, but IT WASN'T...

Interesting weekend

Okay, The short version of the story is that I almost pulled the trigger to buy a 2005 e46 M3 SMG with only 8k miles ...   Here's the longer version if you are still interested:   Ever since I got back from the track day my interest in a slightly used M3 has been growing on me. So couple weeks ago I went to my local BMW dealer and told one of the sales that if he ever comes across a SMG M3 (just can't live with a manual as my DD in LA) with low mileage ( < 25k ) then let me know...

2009 Jaguar XF: New Britain on Display in Anaheim

Forget Tata, if anything can truly save Jaguar, it's this all-new XF sedan. This is the new model they've needed for decades, a gust of fresh air into a stuffy English parlor smelling of moth balls and bad whiskey. This car represents today's modern Britain, one that is more Gherkin Tower that Big Ben, while at the same time maintaining a high level of class and opulence. This is best shown inside, where the ye olde interior design of the XJ, X-Type and S-Type has been thrown into the time capsule where it belongs and replaced by the XF's beautiful cabin of modern shapes, ice blue lighting and hide-away air vents...

Waking Up to an SL63 AMG

See more Car Pictures at CarSpace.com "Wow, that's a nice car you have down there." My girlfriend rarely notices what car I've brought home. She once didn't register that the long-term Nissan Versa was a different car than my old Acura TSX. But the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG got her attention enough to greet me as such last night...
