Just another sign of the waning power of Detroit as the geographical center of the auto universe from freep.com Tigers and Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch has taken over sponsorship of the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl -- known for the past 12 years as the Motor City Bowl. This year's game will be played Dec. 26 at Ford Field...

As with a lot of people, some of the activities that I participated in during my youth were less than respectful endeavors. It was during my first year in car sales and after one of “those” nights in 1984, that I showed up to work more than a little hung over.   July in the Mojave Desert is hot, dry, dusty and windy...

Not That There's Any Formula

AR Index     632.92  +7.49  (+1.20%) Stocks of individual interest Toyota  85.19  -0.56 GM        0.80    +0.05 Ford      7.60   +0.19 Dow 9496.28  -13.00   (-0.14%) Like the title says, I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to the relationship between reality and the price of crude oil or gasoline. But the ratio of crude oil price to prices at the pump seems to be settling into about a 25 to 1 relationship. Not sure I'm ready to call it a trend since the commodity markets, especially in oil, don't seem to behave rationally a lot of the time, but there it is.

“Who is the old guy that hangs out around here?” I asked. “That’s Sarge, He’s the eyes and ears of the owner, watch it”, was the common reply. I was new in the car business, but, a guy who watches and tells didn’t seem right to me...

Ask Dub Schwartz!

Dear Dub, Do you happen to know the record for time/miles between oil changes? A little voice told me that you would be the guy who would know. I really don't like to spend any money that I don't have to on my car, so I check the oil to make sure it's up near the full mark on the dipstick and add a bit when it gets a touch low which only seems like maybe twice a year, but my car has run great for the three years I've had it...
