Sep 19, 2008 - 2009 Honda Fit Sport: Interior Now More Arm Friendly

The last Honda Fit was a great little car, but it was usually the last long-termer I wanted to be stuck with for the night. In short, I didn't fit in the Fit. The driver seat didn't adjust enough, the placement was weird and the steering wheel didn't adjust. I was a few sizes too big for a car clearly designed for the average Japanese, not jumbo Dutch-Scot Canadians.

Thankfully, the 2009 Honda Fit is much friendlier. While seat adjustment could still be better, the seat is now better mounted and comfortable. I wouldn't want to drive it to Utah (actually, I really don't want to drive anything to Utah), but at least I can comfortably drive it home. Aside from being more leg friendly, the 09 Fit is now a lot more arm friendly as well. The wheel telescopes, meaning my arms are no longer stretched out. There's also now a flip-down armrest for the driver and the upper door sill is wider, providing a small, Volvo-like shelf to rest your arm.

Altogether, the Fit is a much better car. It takes all the things that made the original so good and tweaked it here and there to make it better.

Hey Jriz, I'm impressed by the armrest and overall look at that interior for the price. I'm definitely going to have to go test drive one. How's the feel compared to the old model? Joe
