May 30, 2008 - Separated at Birth: Forester or Borrego?

As I walked down to our parking garage yesterday I came upon the Kia Borrego. Well, actually I came upon a new, yet totally anonymous SUV that I discovered to be the Kia Borrego. As I made my way to the front of the car, I was greeted by a familiar sight: a new Subaru Forester. Sure, they aren't identical, but geez, their faces certainly look like they came from the same gene pool. Even SubyTrojan asked me yesterday if we had a Forester parked down on P3.

When the Impreza came out, I commented that it looked like they farmed out the styling inside and out to Kia. Perhaps this is Kia returning the favor.

So, can you tell me which one is which?

Hideous? I like the 2 Tone look of my Outback. By the way, the Forester is the one on the Right. The goofy Road lights, Head Lights and Lumpy Hood on the Kia are a dead give away... The Kia Borrego looks like a Forester that's eaten too many Oreo Cookies. ;O)

Oh sure. Oh sure.

For the record, my view of the Kia Borrego was obstructed by the long-term Mazda CX-9 or Buick Enclave parked to its right and the long-term Ferrari 308 parked in front of it. I was at least 25 feet away from the vehicle when I walked by, too. I looked at the grille and thought, "(Subaru) Tribeca?" at first. Then, I figured the vehicle wasn't big enough to be a Tribeca (I may be wrong) so I guessed maybe a Forester had been brought back for a comparison test. I also noticed the hideous two-tone body panels that Subaru loves to use on Foresters, Outbacks, and Impreza Outback Sport models.
