Driving Miss Crazy

Adventures, observations and never short of an automotive opinion.

Jul 14, 2007 - Bastille Day Happiness is a Citroen

Happy Bastille Day!  If you've stuffed yourself with baguettes, brie, french wine, went to the cinema to watch La Vie en Rose: La Mome and listened to Edith Piaf but still have the need for something more, give Michael Taylor's 1949 black Citroen -- 'Ahh... for me, it was love at first sight' a read.  It's about the Citroen Traction Avant, a classic car etched in our memories from many legendary french films.

I've had the pleasure of seeing this car drive down Bridgeway in Sausalito.  It evokes a time of romance, sophistication and class which today seems all too far away.  It doesn't zip, roar or zag.  It glides quietly by and I swear, that for a moment, time stands still.  Yes, the car has power to stop time and inspire.

Vive la France!
