Detroit, Michigan - General Motors Co. is taking a page from Conover, NC used car dealer Village Motors, with its latest marketing blitz in an effort sell more cars: a money-back guarantee.
The initiative - while unorthodox for an automaker - is nothing new for Village Motors of Conover. They started their “48 Hour 100% Iron-Clad Money Back Guarantee” back in 2007 and covers all vehicles...regardless of the make or model. GM’s program will only cover 2009 and 2010 model-year cars from GM's surviving brands, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC. The program will run through Nov. 30 as part of a "May the Best Car Win" campaign aimed at convincing consumers to return to GM.
The company (GM.) once held half of the U.S. market, but quality issues on some of its models in the 1970s through the 1990s put a damper on GM's reputation among car buyers. It now has about 20 percent of the market.
On the other end of the spectrum, Village Motors in Conover, NC continues to dominate the used car market by consistently outperforming the competition with a level of customer service and satisfaction that is rarely seen in any industry, and ground breaking in the used car industry!
Bruce Roffey, the manager of Village Motrors of Conover, LLC, said that he hopes this latest offer is not just more “smoke and mirrors” by a new car company.
"It’s about time that GM started giving consumers what they wanted. However, if they are so confident in their current product line-up, why don’t they make their money-back guarantee permanent? I can’t understand why they are ending their program in November. Rest assured, Village Motors will continue our 100% Iron-Clad Money Back Guarantee long after General Motors has stopped theirs," he said in a statement.
