Jun 18, 2009 - Cash for Clunkers - New Mazda SpecialsIt appears likely that the Cash for Clunkers bill will pass, and as it comes to vote here today or in the next few days, if it passes, President Obama has already indicated that he would sign the bill. This bill would allow for great deals for new Mazda shoppers in our Cincinnati market and across the country, and we are looking at which Mazda vehicles would be candidates for the program. How it works: As the bill currently stands (before signature), a new Mazda shopper could trade-in their "gas-guzzler" vehicle (defined as getting 18 mpg or less) and in return for buying a new vehicle with better fuel efficiency, get a government voucher towards the purchase of the new vehicle. If there is an improvement of 4 mpg or more with the new car, one is eligible for a $3,500 voucher, and if there is an improvement of 10 mpg or more with the new car, one is eligible for a $4,500 voucher. The minimum mpg of the new passenger vehicle needs to be 22 mpg or higher (under the current bill). With that in mind, it appears that the 2009 Mazda 3 (Mazda3) should be a solid candidate with 22 city, 29 highway, and the 2010 Mazda 3 (Mazda3) which is also available at most dealerships would also be a great special. In addition, the 2009 Mazda Tribute should be a great Cash for Clunkers candidate, with 29 city, 27 highway. There are still LOTS of questions about this bill, and we created a Cash for Clunkers Cincinnati Mazda page with the latest updated info, as well as a list of which new Mazda cars would potentially qualify based on the lastest info.
