Jul 27, 2007 - Movie Shoot: There's a Little Black Spot on the Sun Today

On my way home the other night, I got held up on PCH by a movie shoot at Mugu Rock. You may not know it by name, but once you recognize what the rock looks like, you will realize that this is a standard stretch of road used in commercials, movies and TV shows when they need a scenic stretch of coastal highway.

It always looks like a long, lonesome stretch of road, perfect for taking in the scenery at sunset or racing along its lazy curves, but what you don't see is what the car in the shoot comes upon the moment they cut away to the next shot: a line of cars waiting impatiently to get home after a long day at work.

I tried to get a shot of the Dodge Viper as it passed me, but I am not so good with the timing on the action shots.
