OK, I know you hate the mileage on your (insert name of fuel sucking vehicle). You probably have found by now that selling it will at best turn your gas bills into bigger car payments.
My solution, which admittedly isn't the best economically, was to buy a cheap, fun car to use 90% of the time and only use the van when necessary.
For me the answer was a Toyota Celica convertible. They aren't real common but when you find one they are cheap and if they were treated at all well will hold up a long time.
They are fun to drive so of course Toyota stopped making them.
There are other cars out there like this if your tastes run differently and all are cheaper than dumping a perfectly good vehicle at the bottom of the market to buy something at te top of the market.
