Hyundai part lookup on Hyundai Parts Online

NOTE:  As of 19 June 07, this site is not available.  However I have heard from Hyundai that it may be back up eventually.  I was told there was a server crash that caused the access to go down and when the server is fixed access will be restored.  You can try the link but don't expect it to work.  If I find out that it's back up I'll post an update.  -Doohickie

Anyone can look up parts in Hyundai's system; you don't have to be an employee.  The information can be accessed for free. Go to HyundiaUSA.com and clicked on Owners, then Parts & Accessories. (Here is a direct link.) At that site, click on Parts and navigate your way through to select a dealer (if doing this frequently, you can create a login that will automatically navigate dealer selection steps).  During this process, several windows will open, leave them all open because some of the pages will not have Forward and Back arrows and if you want to go back you'll need to click on the previous browser window.  Next, click on the big picture in the middle of the following page; the picture looks like this:

From there, select the car for the parts you want to look up. You can either enter your VIN, or drill down using the listings. There are two top levels; Passenger is pretty self-explanatory; R/V includes SUVs and minivans. Select the vehicle group out of the list. (For instance, for an 06 Elantra, built on the XD platform, select ELANTRA XD 00MY. The model years (MY) do not quite line up with what we are generally construe as model years; my best advice is to select the earliest MY that looks like it might be yours. The Elantra 06 in the Hyundia listing actually refers to the new model, 2007 model year and later.  If you're not sure, try one and look at the body components.  If the body does not look like yours, try the other possibility.) Once you have your vehicle group selected, pick any options that apply if you want (it's not necessary, but it will narrow down the information shown), and selected the icon in the lower right corner that looks like this:

There are two ways to navigate from there:

1. Continue to drill down using the different vehicle systems (Engine, Trans, Chassis, Body, Trim, Electric) and select the appropriate subsystem.  You may find that the part you're looking for is not where you would expect it, so if you don't find it, start from a different system and try again, or,

2. If you know the part number, Group Name or PNC (those are the 5-digit numbers on the diagrams that point to parts and are usually the first 5 digits of the part number), enter those. From there it brings up the listing that looks like this:

In the listing it will sometimes show dates; these refer to the manufacturing date of the car which is found on the VIN sticker. If you keyed in your VIN to begin with, it will only show what was originally on your car.

If you used the "drill-down" method, it also shows a picture of the subsystem on the right, like this: The pictures show a good exploded view of things to give you an idea of not just what's on your car, but how it goes together. This can be helpful if you're trying to work on it. To find out the dealer list price, click on Add To Cart in the listing, then go back to the Welcome to Hyundai Parts Online window (the one with this picture

which should still be open... you don't have to use navigation arrows), and click on the Shopping Cart link near the top right. Putting stuff in the car doesn't actually buy them.  You have to contact your dealer to order the parts.  Once you know the part number, if you are interested in buying the part, another source (not owned by Hyundai) is HyundaiPartsOnline.com.  They are usually less expensive than dealer list prices, but make sure you include tax in dealer prices, and shipping & handling in HyundaiPartsOnline prices when comparing.
