- The collapse of an attempted deal with the auto dealer magnate Roger Penske resulted in the GM’s plan to end its production of the brand, Saturn. The initiation of the plan to take over the Saturn models was made by Penske in early June. The deal collapsed when the Penske Automotive Group failed to get a manufacturer for Saturn when the contract with GM expires. According to the terms, GM was to continue building the Saturn models like Aura, Vue and Outlook until 2011.
“This is very disappointing news and comes after months of hard work by hundreds of dedicated employees and Saturn retailers who tried to make the new Saturn a reality," GM CEO Fritz Henderson said...
