Disturbing Activity: Our Unique Brand Names and Domains Appearing All Over
December 30, 2008 | Categories:
Diluting Unique Brand Names with Spam First of all, let me make this perfectly clear, this phenomenon appears to be happening all over.  And it could be happening to YOU! Second, I need to apologize for my spelling.  For some reason FireFox isn't correcting me as usual and I am too mad & excited to worry about it at the moment. The problem is spam.  Not just the scams, but the plain old spam.  Junk email is NOT just like junk mail that shows up in your post.  Nor is Web Spam that dilutes your brands and names.  These are personal and professional attacks on you and your business, even your industry and government. I am getting increasingly disturbed by the amount of website fraud that is being conducted against not only us, but against many in the same industry.  Only recently, web pages have started to pop-up everywhere throughout the web that contain brand names and domain addresses that are exclusive to us.  On these same pages, our competitors are listed as well, using their exclusive brand names.  The effect is that if our unique brands and domains are listed throughout the web, it dilutes our brands in the search engines.  The brands in question (ours and many others) are being used as text through-out quite a few pages on the web in the obvious attempt to attract attention merely because they are highly popular websites.  More disturbing is that some of these erroneous pages are phishing sites.  They don't simply include our brand, either, they include all kinds of brands in the automotive industry.  In fact, the more the better, apparently. Not only is each brand diluted more and more as these websites and pages are setup, but these pages only exist to show off the brands.  In fact, there are absolutely no links to the respective brands in question.  There are, however, some other links to other services in competition with the brands mentioned.  Of course, the type of site I am referring to here is ill mannered, but this is also the best behaved, as some of my Google Alerts are reporting that our brands are being used on phishing sites...
